So here I am again drawn to the flux
Up, down, in, out…too much
Hard to stay equanimous
When life always kicks up dust
Yet I see that, try to be that
Change in awareness…for me thats
Hard…led by blind reaction
Can’t give my mind satisfaction
I won’t lay down for this friend of mine
Ego attachment in my mind
Perception - it’s a trap
Like an endless loop in fact
…When it dictates how I act
This conditionings like a pact
Made without my own cognition
It won’t let me stop and listen

I won’t lay down down down oh no I won’t

I won’t lay down for you oh friend of mine
I won’t lay down for you and that’s the end

We’re dealing with that little tug at your sleeves from the ego
Some of us feel it more than others…I know I do
It can be the cause of great suffering
This is my healing release of that energy
I’m in control, I’m no longer your captive
Yet there’s more work to be done, just listen.

Depression is a deep prison
A place I often visit
Consciousness…i’m often with it
But perception gets me twisted
The sensation draws me down
My reaction keeps me bound
I should observe with detachment
Not pile it up like a catchment
Oh well guess I gotta learn the hard way
Keep repeating til I can’t play
This frustrating game no more
Take away my bat and ball
Change imposed, refrain from those
Actions that take a strained approach
When dealing with external sources
I remember these internal forces

The end is near, never fear
The light at the end of the tunnels clear
I look inside, find peace of mind
Work out kinks that try to hide
I bring them - to the surface
See them as they are…so nervous
Accept the past aversions
With the future cravings worthless
Being rooted in the present
Is the best lifetime investment
So i’m mindful of sensation
Along with my respiration
These are clues to my salvation
And they help my elevation
Aware and balanced is the goal
Only this makes me whole
